About QR3D Maker
A free, browser-based tool that turns any QR code into a real, print-ready two-color 3D object. Built for makers, small businesses, hosts and anyone who wants a QR code that lasts longer than a printout.
What we do
QR3D Maker is a single-purpose tool: you type a link (or Wi-Fi credentials, or plain text), pick two colors and pick an object type — a desk stand, a keychain or a wall plaque — and download a print-ready 3D file. The file arrives as a 3MF with both colors already assigned for Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Orca Slicer and Cura, plus a fallback of two STL files for older workflows. No sign-up, no watermark, no subscription. That's the entire product.
Who we are
QR3D Maker is built and maintained by the QR3D Maker Team, an independent project that builds tools where a physical product and a digital design meet. QR3D Maker is our answer to a very specific frustration: printed QR codes on paper look temporary, fade, and lose scanability when they get wrinkled or wet. A 3D printed QR belongs in the space it lives in — a restaurant counter, a rental door, a conference giveaway — and it costs pennies of filament to make.
Why the tool runs entirely in your browser
Every step of the design and export happens on your own device. Your links, Wi-Fi passwords and any content you type never leave your computer. We do not have accounts, we do not store anything you enter, and we do not need to — the QR generation, the 3D geometry and the file packaging are all done client-side with open web technologies (Three.js for the preview, JSZip for the 3MF, standard canvas for the QR modules). This is intentional: we think a tool this simple should not require you to trust us with your data.
How the site is funded
The tool itself is free. To cover the cost of the domain, hosting and ongoing maintenance we display advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are the entire business model — there is no premium plan, no upsell, no data sale. If you want to support the project you can leave the ad blocker off; if you prefer not to see ads, that is fine too, the tool works either way. We use Google Funding Choices as our Consent Management Platform to comply with GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA and other US state privacy laws — see the Privacy Policy for full details.
What is on the roadmap
We are focused on making the core tool better rather than adding features. Near-term priorities: sharper contrast warnings, better emoji rendering in the center of the code, and more object shapes (a fridge-magnet base is next). If you have a request or want to report a scanning issue, write to hello@qr3dmaker.com — we read every message.
Trademarks and credit
"QR Code" is a registered trademark of Denso Wave Incorporated. QR3D Maker is not affiliated with Denso Wave. Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Orca Slicer and Cura are trademarks of their respective owners; we mention them only because they are the slicers most makers use.
How it works, step by step
- Enter your content. A web address, Wi-Fi details, a contact card, a WhatsApp link or plain text.
- Choose the object. A desk stand, a keychain or a wall plaque, and the size that suits where it will be used.
- Pick two colors. The tool warns you when the contrast between them is too low to scan reliably.
- Download and print. A single 3MF file with colors assigned, or two STL files, ready for your slicer.
Who it is for
Makers who want a useful print for their desk or workshop, restaurants and cafés replacing laminated menus, short-term rental hosts sharing Wi-Fi, small shops collecting reviews, and anyone giving out keychains or plaques at an event. If you own a 3D printer or have access to a print service, the tool is built for you.
Our principles
- Free and simple. No sign-up, no watermark and no limits on how many codes you make.
- Private by design. What you type stays in your browser.
- Honest guidance. We publish plain guides on size and contrast, filament colors and common mistakes, and we tell you to test before you print a batch.
